Drum Books

Introduction

This page is devoted to books that Art has personally used throughout his drumming career and found helpful.

NOTE:
It is important to remember that Art is not "endorsing" these books and is not in any business arrangement with the authors/publishers of the following books. Art is merely presenting these books as being helpful in his opinion.

Stick Control

by George Lawrence Stone

A great book if you practice repetitions for a long duration. It is not as effective if done with frequent breaks between excercises. It definitely requires a lot of discipline.

Accents and Rebounds

by George Lawrence Stone

Another great book by George Lawrence Stone which is dedicated to Joe Morello. When Joe Morello practiced with Stick Control, he used to show George Stone, his teacher, the exercises with accents. Accents and Rebounds is a great book to follow Stick Control.

Bass Drum Control

by Colin Bailey

This is the best book for learning how to control the bass drum. Colin Bailey is one of the greatest bass drum artists I can think of. The book gives many great exercises with an audio tape to assist you.
